The obvious division in this country is a direct product of a news media that is driven
By a profit motive instead of a civic duty to properly inform the public. 40 years without the fairness doctrine (look it up) has spilt American society down the center. It’s capitalism.
A republic or any form of representative government absolutely needs a smart and properly informed populace.
We obviously don’t have that.
Above all else we have a very big problem is the way we distribute and digest information in this culture that is leading to absolutely tragic collective decisions. Our informational systems have been hijacked by corporate fascists. Evil people warped by greed and drunk on the illusion of power. We are being manipulated and abused on an unthinkable scale at all times. Bombarded with lies and distortions of reality and motivations.
What the United States faces is not simply a political problem. Our problems run much deeper. They sociolocogical and psychological dysfunction that is most clearly manifestain’t itself in the political arena. Our citizens are not well and need substantial help.
Like what exactly are republicans voting for? Seriously. Their decision making process has become completely untethered from reality and from any sort of expectation of presidential performance or normal behavior from their candidates. It’s bizarre and it’s unsustainable.
